Piracy

Downloading illegal material from the Internet has become a phenomenon all over the world especially in third world countries. Many people in third world countries download illegal material from the Internet for either pleasure for themselves or for profit. People can buy Hollywood movies or a television series for as cheap as $1 on dvd. Many consider downloading or buying pirated versions of their favorite movies or television shows because they get the same content for a very reasonable price. It is almost as if you have the original copy on your computer or in your hands.
I came across an article by John Grafilo where he talked about how piracy in the Philippines has become a tourist attraction for Americans. Americans fly to the Philippines where they have a list of different Hollywood movies, which they bring back home to America for their family and friends. Customers are allowed to test the dvds before buying it and they are normally satisfied and are pleased with it. Grafilo states in his article that the sales of pirated dvds in Manila have gone up in the last year with about 1/3 of the customers are foreigners.
Illegal downloading of movies, television shows and music is a sensation occurring in many countries around the world. People download because they get the same quality as the originals that cost nothing. Downloading from the Internet is very easy and fast to do thus appealing to many. It has been ongoing for a couple of years and kids as young as 5 know how illegal downloading works. They see their parents, siblings and other people they know do it and it becomes a very normal and regular thing to do. They know that it is bad but continue doing it since it is very ordinary to them and many around them are doing it.
