Surely pornography website is the something that people refuse to bring on to the table, but people cannot deny they are kind of addicted to it once they have been visited it once. It has always been the ideology that male is the biggest participant of this group, but in Shoshana Magnet’s research of the “Suicide Girls”, it says the “subscription rate that is approximately 50 percent women.” It did surprise me when I saw the figure, but when I think back of what our bunch of girls do when surfing on the internet, I have to admit that this 50 percent is possible. Shoshana Magnet used the content of those female’s journals that they have put up in SG to show the femininity in there, female can share their feeling without the anxiety of how others think. Women are able to show the realism of them. It is necessary to ask oneself that why women can’t just say it loud in the real world, to share the experience with real people that they know. Not many women are able to express themselves to the public or even among their close friends. In fact, women are more likely to be the shy exhibitionist in their real lives, thus pornography website is a possible way of expressing their thoughts and feelings or to be the one that they want to be, but can not be in the reality. The reason behind such fact is that women live in the pressure of social culture everyday, their every single movement does not just affect of themselves, but as well as their families. For example, a married woman wants to be more masculine in her heart, but she can’t due to the “public eye” and people will talk behind her back. If she is the man in the family, then what is the husband? Is he playing a female role in the family? Or both of them are the “men” in the family. Either way gives others spaces to think if the husband is weak, gay or else. It is nothing wrong for women to be masculine, but it is the start of all the talking about the family. Thus, women to hide what they want, but in SG or similar websites, they have the freedom and space to create their own images.
